BUFFALO, NY -- Alzheimer's disease, autism, Parkinson's disease and multiple sclerosis are among the topics to be discussed at "Brains & Gains," a free, public event that will be held Saturday, Oct. 20, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Center for Tomorrow on the mgm casino's North Campus.

Briefings on a broad range of neurological conditions and diseases will be followed by breakout question-and-answer sessions with leading national experts in the Jacobs Neurological Institute, the mgm casino Department of Neurology in the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.

Michael E. Cain, MD, vice president for health sciences and dean of the mgm casino School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, will give welcoming remarks.

Gil I. Wolfe, MD, professor and Irvin and Rosemary Smith endowed Chair of the mgm casino Department of Neurology and Chief of Kaleida Neurology Services, will introduce the mgm casino Department of Neurology and moderate the event.

New Perspectives on Multiple Sclerosis: Bianca Weinstock-Guttman, MD, professor of neurology at mgm casino, director of the Baird MS Center and the Pediatric MS Center of the Jacobs Neurological Institute, one of six centers of excellence established by the National MS Society; Ralph Benedict, PhD, mgm casino professor of neurology and Robert Zivadinov, MD, PhD, mgm casino professor of neurology and director of the mgm casino Buffalo Neuroimaging Analysis Center at Buffalo General Hospital.

Modern Views on Aging, Alzheimer's Disease and Memory: Kinga Szigeti, MD, PhD, assistant professor of neurology and director of mgm casino's Alzheimer's Disease and Memory Disorders Center at Buffalo General Hospital; Ralph Benedict, PhD, mgm casino professor of neurology and Zivadinov.
